5 card ADVICE layout – Gipsy cards

I used this 5-card advice layout quite often at the Ask my Cards blog. To view some of the posts ➡ click here

When card positions in a layout are defined the cards become more tailored to that position. One way to look at this is that the card is in a room of a house. It needs to get acquainted with that room and the reaction is recorded by via your interpretation. We have five cards situated in five different rooms. Let’s suppose the last room is called RESULT and you see a whole bunch of chaos going on. In the room ADVICE TO FOLLOW you can see a solution or way to by-pass this utter chaos. Cards in positions could be viewed as limited but I think you get their maximum effect.  Sure, they can lend their energy to cards beside them and in some other criss crossing techniques.

My gypsy-spirited method of understanding these cards is from

meanings passed down to me. The best recipes are handed down and

there is always a secret or two which you will never  find in

books or other online resources. I do share these secrets  from

time to time.  🙂

Through my own experience and knowledge of the cards I have difficulty following someone else’s structured view on them. I respect all views. If you are a beginner then by all means study under a mentor.

Today’s reading involved a question by a couple contemplating some kitchen renovations. They have gotten quotes and narrowed it down to one particular contractor. Their question is whether or not they will be satisfied with the result after the renovations are completed.

The above image shows the defined meanings of each position and include the cards which were drawn for this question.

The below image are the actual Hungarian gipsy cards.

  1. Basis or foundation of question. The DESIRE card speaks about the couple wanting to renovate the kitchen according to their vision of what they hope the contractor will deliver.
  2. What you know about the situation. The JUDGE card reflects their final decision on which contractor they want to select. Their choice is an educated selection and the person they picked will go by the book. This means there could be issues as you can not always go by the book when doing renovations because so many other things need to be factored. Here is a good example : the same couple hired a person to create some wooden stairs in their backyard. The old stairs had rotted away. The person went by the book for sure. The stairs were perfect mathematically but where off a bit due to the imperfections of the landscaping around that area.  Perhaps this is some of the underlying anxiety depicted in the last card. Sometimes, people who go by the book don’t factor in everything. Yes, your work is perfect but you can’t put perfect on imperfect you need to adjust, modify or recalculate.
  3. What you are not seeing. The MERRIMENT card indicates the couple’s insecurities about being happy with the end result. They are not totally optimistic and going into it with hesitation .
  4. Advice to follow. Actually, before you study this position look over at the last card so that you know which way to read it. As you can see, FALSENESS sits in the result position.  The LOVE card is a bit challenging to read given the last card is negative in nature.  It could be saying they should learn to love the results even though the renovations are not exactly what they envisioned. There could be many reasons for this. Sometimes, renovation projects are started and then other things need to be adjusted or factored in to get the job done. This could be something simple or more complex.
  5. Result. The FALSENESS card addresses whether they will be satisfied. I do see a partial satisfaction but it will not be in keeping with what they had hoped. Pretty much all the cards are positive except this one. The advice card offers suggestions on how to handle this. The bottom line is that they will learn to love the renovations when they are said and done. There is an element of self-delusion in the last card. Perhaps there is an underlying distrust due to various reasons. If the last card was Misfortune or the Enemy I would tell them to reconsider their choice.

Zigeuner Wahrsagekarten Money card

In the image below is the MONEY card from the Art Deco fortune telling deck, Zigeuener Wahrsagekarten & Biedermeir decks. The b/w image is from a vintage deck I received as a gift from Slovenia in the 1970’s before mass colour reproduction of the Zigeuner deck. This particular deck is numbered. I have no idea who the publisher is because I received them wrapped in a silk scarf with a few sheets of Slovenian meanings.

There are Money Cards in most Sibilla decks & the spirit of the card is abundance.

Gipsy money Card
The MONEY card is positive energy.

The Art Deco money card (bottom left) image shows a beautiful, slender, long haired half clad lady oozing bills and coins (or nuggets) from her hands. One cannot help but feel abundance. There is a sense of financial freedom within this card. The lady’s left breast is exposed. Nakedness is usually associated with honesty. It also means not to be ashamed of the wealth the card could bring. I like this image because it has no restrictions within it other than falling over the stack of coins and bills.   🙂

The Biedermeir money card (bottom right) image has a chest full of gold nuggets, bags of money, a red money purse, an open bag with nuggets spilling on the floor. On the table is a book with records of certain amounts of money. Even the lower shelf on the left side of the picture has a money bag with books on the upper shelf. Notice that the scales are not even. Maybe these scales are used to weigh the nuggets and put them into the small bags seen on the table. Money is everywhere. One thing to note is that this is money accounted for and even though there is lots the books have records.

The Zigeuner (+ b/w version, top left #32) money card (top right) image show a large jewelry box with a few necklaces hanging out. There is a big bag of money on the table although this is assumed. Also, there is a stack of bills and some coins on the table.  This image doesn’t feel as abundant as the Art Deco version. Are there more items in the jewelry box?  The Zigeuner card reveals value in jewelry as well which the other money cards don’t. Is this significant? I think so. One of these necklaces is made from round bead probably rubies. There is no key anywhere to this box suggesting there isn’t the control as felt with the Biedermeir money card (record books).

The reason I went into detail about the images is because even though this card means money, things of value and financial abundance is because the imagery on this card will give additional clues in your interpretation. I get different feelings from all three cards and yet the core meaning is tangible benefits.

When coupled with other cards we can see how this energy is being used or abused. When you hold on to money too tightly the energy stagnates & prevents further abundance from reaching you. If you are too loose with your money the natural energy can’t keep up with the quick flow that fast so you can deplete the energy quickly. If you have more than enough money giving some away will make room for more. If you seem to be running out of money all the time then part of this is connected to your belief system. Change your attitude towards money and your money situation will change.

In the Zigeuner deck the open side of the jewelry box facing the Sweetheart or Lover card can suggest the flow of money. The closed side of the jewelry box facing these 2 Significator cards can indicated delays before getting the money. The same would be true for the Biedermeir money card. The Art Deco money card is open on both sides of the image – equally.

Zigeuner Wahrsagekarten Thought card

It is better to understand one or two meanings and build on that by practicing layouts. The images speak volumes. The Thought card will mean something entirely unique to you.

In the Art Deco deck you might get the impression the person has writers block. He could also be studying for his exam. Maybe he is a bookkeeper? The possibilities are endless.

In the Zigeuner Wahrsagekarten the feeling of the card is different. He just got news and is pondering on it. Or news has come with a job proposition and so on. No matter which card of the deck you are studying, the meaning will be personal to you.

If you are married, living together or in a committed relationship:

  • Financial questions: indication of many material worries over debts and other money related issues.
  • Romantic questions: There is evidence of suspicion and jealousy that preoccupies the person’s mind.
  • Work related question: There is a dilemma surrounded by indecision. A choice needs to be made.
  • Surprise element: Someone at a distance is planning to visit you, unexpectedly.

If you are single, with no committed relationship:

  • Romantic questions: Don’t count on anything long-term. Not much action in this area.
  • Work questions: You are being considered for a new position or job. There is much competition.
  • Financial questions: Indicates that there may not be adequate funds to enjoy life satisfactorily.
  • Surprise element: You may have to wait a very long time to make a connection.

Collectively, we would all agree that the THOUGHT card means ‘thinking about’ something or someone.

Zigeuner Wahrsagekarten Lover card

The Zigeuner Wahrsagekarten Lover card is quite interesting to interpret.  If you look closely at the jacket this man is wearing you will see a big difference from one side to the other. One observation is the glove on one hand none on the other. Did you notice the dark side of the heart in the upper left hand corner?

A Man? A Lover?

When the Lover falls in a future spot in the layout and you are a female receiving a card reading he could be a potential love interest. If you are in a situation experiencing a famine in your love department he’s just the guy to spice things up.  🙂

Always check to see what cards are near him. Be aware if Jealousy is nearby because he could have a deranged girlfriend you don’t know about. Most of the time he represents your significant other, someone you are in a relationship with at the present time. A husband, a mate, friend with benefits, common law spouse, boyfriend, etc.

It’s not hard to find out what is on the Lover’s mind or what situation is around him because he will always be in your layout when you do a full board layout (GT) using the 36 cards. When doing a shorter layout and he shows up there will be some significance to your connection. Perhaps an argument (Anger), visiting some friends (Visit), going on a trip (Journey), or finding out he is cheating on you (Infidelity).

Many traditional card Readers don’t believe in reading someone’s future unless they have consent from the person. With the Lenormand cards as well as the Zigeuner (and several other Sibille style decks) how can we not see what the other people are doing if they are in our layout. 🙂

At the same token you can discover what is really bothering you as well by meditating on the cards surrounding the Sweetheart (female getting the Reading). The cards which come between you and the Lover card are very important. Are they low energy or positive? Do you foresee a problem in the near future or will you follow the yellow brick road for the next few months?

I think it can be quite helpful to study the cards around the Lover especially if there is a cooling period in your relationship. Maybe it has nothing to do with you. There might be other situations weighing down your Lover-Man. It’s not always another woman….could be a man, it could be job, it could be financial worries or grief/depression.

We woman have a very static image within the Sweetheart card. There is no indication of the many different roles we play in men’s lives. The Lover card will be the plain ol’ guy you sit on the couch with on a Saturday night or the guy with the 6 pack chest twirling you around on the dance floor.  I really like this card because it shows the different roles that a man can be.

If you are a male the Lover will represent you in a layout? You can do the same thing and look for the Sweetheart to gain more information about your special lady or potential future lover……

Zigeuner Waharsagekarten – Desire plus combos

What does desire mean? As with most of the cards the symbolism is within the image but they do have a core meaning as well which can be one in the same. To desire is to have a strong feeling of wanting something or someone. Desire is about the process of yearning.

Wishing upon a star.

DESIRE is negative when you want someone or something that does not belong to you. I don’t mean looking at new bedroom furniture and desiring it because that is different. It’s kind of like wishing the other person didn’t have it. I think covet and crave are good descriptive words.

If you crave a male or female that is NOT interested in you for one reason or another that can be unhealthy.

If you crave an ice cream, well, that can be unhealthy but you won’t be plucking it out of someone’s hands (unless in fun).

When I see this card, I am also reminded of spiritual needs. How about you. What do you see?
